Parents
Below are some ways I work with parents to help them support their student’s success.
-
Set realistic, meaningful short-term and long-term goals that guide academic and personal growth
-
Create a supportive, structured environment at home, promoting habits that lead to success
-
Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and pursue their talents and interests
-
Reinforce self-discipline, respect for others, and accountability
-
Incorporate research-based evidence for setting healthy boundaries with technology
-
Develop strategies for parent alignment, expectation setting, and cohesive support to provide consistency, reduce conflicts, and foster an empowering environment
-
Learn ways to help with long-term planning for middle school, high school, and college admissions, including application preparation
-
Support student’s decision-making while encouraging independence and ownership of their academic path
-
Choose courses and extracurricular activities that best align with the student’s strengths and goals
Parents play a vital role in their student’s growth, and partnering with them enhances the impact of Student Success Advising. I offer guidance, strategies, and insights to help parents support their student’s independence, reinforce positive habits, and navigate challenges with confidence.
How I Work with Parents:
Alongside Student Sessions: Parents have separate check-ins and sessions as part of the ongoing work with their student, ensuring consistency and reinforcement.
Independent Parent Sessions: Parents can meet with me individually to focus on areas where they would like support.
